Metal glow plug for AQGS

Application
This high-performance metal glow plug for the AQGS can increase its temperature faster than the QGS-type glow plug (two materials) and the SRM glow plug. After the engine is turned ON, the temperature increases rapidly, which helps to reduce engine start-up time more than was previously possible. In addition, after the temperature has increased rapidly, the PWM controls the temperature in order to enable an afterglow as long as that of the SRM glow plug, which helps to reduce emissions.

Application
This glow plug is used for private vehicles that require afterglow power distribution. Unlike the QGS-type glow plug (two materials), afterglow power distribution is possible without using any system for chopping power distribution, etc. We developed the material for the control coil proprietarily, one which enables a longer operating life for the plug.

QGS-type glow plug (two materials)

Application
This glow plug improves its performance in increasing its temperature more quickly than prior glow plugs and enables a shortening of the start-up time. Prior glow plugs had only one heat-generating coil, but the new glow plug has combined coils which can be controlled and can curb overheating of the heat-generating coil even though the temperature increases rapidly. It is often used for general-purpose engines that use glow plugs only upon preheating.

General-type glow plug
In the general-type glow plugs, the resistance value of the heat-generation coil is not changed by the temperature, and a constant current runs.

Rapidly heating glow plug
For the rapidly heating glow plug, a heat-generating coil in which the resistance becomes equal to the temperature increase is used. Since, immediately after power distribution, the resistance is small and a large current runs, the temperature of the plug rises more rapidly than that of general-type glow plugs, but, when resistance becomes high, a small current runs, which curbs the temperature rise.

QGS-type glow plug (one material)
The QGS-type glow plug is used in combination with the special QGS controller. The resistance of the one-material-type QGS glow plug is small and a very large current runs through the heat-generating coil, in comparison with general-type and rapidly-heating glow plugs. Therefore, the temperature rises rapidly. This helps to reduce preheating time considerably and to improve starting performance.
