Application
This is a knock sensor which detects knocking vibration of the engine using a piezo-electric ceramic. It is used for ignition timing control, and contributes to improved engine performance and reduced fuel consumption. There are two types of sensors, a non-resonant type and a resonant type.

Features

  • The frequency characteristics of a non-resonant knock sensor are flat between 5 and 15 kHz, which is the region in which knocking occurs, so the sensor can be used regardless of the type of engine and is highly versatile.
  • The resonant knock sensor itself has resonance characteristics, enabling it to produce a large output when knocking occurs.
